RE: specified data update times
Hi There Colin,
You attended Jens' course last Thursday and Friday. Jens is currently delivering a course so I thought I would attempt to answer this one in case it is urgent.
A report that is designed in Power BI Desktop that uses a non cloud based data source can not be refreshed in the Power BI service. Any modifications made to the report will only be visible in The Power BI service after re-publishing that report, it will replace the existing dataset and report. However you could use gateways to achieve this.
To schedule a refresh for a report published to the Power BI service the process would be to go to the workspace containing the published report.
You then select the Datasets + dataflows link in that workspace. This will show you a list of the datasets used for each of the published report.
Select the ellipsis (three dots) after the dataset you would like to schedule a refresh for and from the menu select 'Settings'
Now you can expand 'Scheduled refresh'.
In this section you can fill out the details on when and what time you would like your scheduled refresh to take place.
Click 'Apply' to confirm your entries. Job done.
I hope this answers your question Colin.
If this is not the answer to your question or you need any more info then please reply to this post and we will attempt to answer it.
