Publishing a Power BI Report

I have created a report and shared it with a group where all but one person in the group is on a trial Power BI Pro license. Everyone in the group except that person can view the report. The exception is given a prompt asking them to upgrade to the Power BI Pro trial license or Cancel, and they cannot view the report as a result.

Before that person tried they selected to use the free version and entered their email. The dialogue that followed said they already had an account (we are using Office 365 ).

My question is: is it possible for someone to view a published report WITH the free version of Power BI?

Hi Anthony,

Thank you for the forum question.

No unfortunately all in your audience will also need a Pro License to view the report.

RE: Publishing a Power BI Report

Thanks Jens and apologies for taking so long to reply.

I recalled that you suggested an alternative approach, which was to "publish to web" and share the link that you get by following that process.

I could not remember the steps you showed me on the course to "publish to web" but I found a helpful article on how to do that in the link below, followed it and sent the link to the colleague without a Pro license. He was able to view the report. Success!

RE: Publishing a Power BI Report

Hi Anthony,

I am happy that you found a way, but as I understand it by publishing to the web Microsoft can use your report and it will be published to the whole world.
