Formatting numbers in a visual
I have been practising recreating some of the training we did. I have created a visual, a card with a single number and in the training we had the option to Format the figure in the visual e.g. to £ or with fewer decimal places but I am going to the Formatting tab and data type and Format are greyed out. Under the Format painter there is also no option to change the format of the number in the visual. How can I change it?
(Is it possible to add a screen shot in this forum as an attachment as it might be easier to see?)
RE: Formatting numbers in a visual
Hi Hannah,
Thank you for the forum question.
You have 3 options to set the formatting for your numbers, but you cannot do it on visual level.
You can select the number field on the fields list in report view, and then click the modelling tab and change the formatting in the formatting group.
In data view you can select the table, click on the heading to select the column with your numbers, click the modelling tab and change the formatting in the formatting group.
You can also select the column in power query and do the formatting in power query.
If the it is a measure, you need to select the measure in report view and then click the modelling tab and change the formatting in the formatting group.
I hope this makes sense.
