Run scenarios
How do I find out what changes will be caused, if I change start dates of tasks, without really change the schedule (visualisation)
RE: run scenarios
Hi Claudia
Good question.
If you change the start date of a task you can use the feature called Compare Projects to visually see the effect made by the change.
It displays the previous schedule with blue task bars and the current ones in green.
Here are the steps.
1. First make the change to the task start date.
2. Save the project with a new file name.
3. With the new project file open and select
Project, Compare Projects.
The top window displays a comparison Gantt chart. You may need to scroll and zoom out to see the chart.
The bottom two windows display the previous and current project files.
Please pass on to the group if you think this will be a useful feature.
Change Highlighting
Also when a start date is changed all other tasks that have been effected are automatically changed in colour (until the next change). But this doesn't keep or tell you by how much.
Regards
Doug

MS Project tip:Formatting Bar TextTo display notes or resource initials on the Gantt chart bars, choose Format, Bar Styles and the Text tab. Select the position you want to show the text i.e. Top or Inside etc, then choose the field name you are looking for from the drop down arrow. Type the first letter of the name to get quickly to the top of the letter range. Click OK. |
