Progress Report
Hello
I am trying to create a “milestones plan on a page” using a selection of tasks from my MSP plan.
I don’t know how to generate a report that will display the selected milestones and tasks only.
Can someone give me some guidance on how to do this?
Thank you.
Jacques.
RE: Progress Report
Hi Jacques
Thank you for your question.
One way to filter your plan so you only see the tasks you are interested in is to use the Flag column.
Right click one of the columns in your table, e.g. Task Name
Choose to insert a column called Flag 1
Set the value of Flag 1 to Yes for each of the tasks and milestones you would like to display
At the top of the Flag 1 column click the drop down triangle and filter the table for Yes values
you can now hide the Flag 1 column (right click on the Flag 1 column heading and choose hide)
To quickly reveal all tasks press the F3 key on your keyboard
To flag more tasks re-insert the flag column and set the required task values to Yes.
I hope this helps - let me know if you have any further questions.
Kind regards,
Andrew

RE: Progress Report
Andrew,
While i have you.
Is there a way whereby i can as above filter the programme plan by different workstreams. so let’s say I have workstream a, b, c. How can i flag the 3 different workstreams individually to show just the items from that workstream at a time?
So you said above i should say yes to items in the filter that i want to display. But i can’t say yes to 3 different workstreams as they will all show at the same time. so i am looking for i suppose 3 different filters. Is this possible?
Thank you.
RE: Progress Report
Hi Jacques
I'm so glad that helped! Re your second question, there may be a way...
MS Project has several spare Flag fields. Would it work if you used Flag 1 for stream one, Flag 2 for stream 2 and filtered by the respective columns for your reports?
Kind regards,
Andrew
RE: Progress Report
i was thinking that as well. But i have 9 worksreams and 9 flags will be a bit hard to remember which flag is which worksream. Is it possible to rename flag 1 to worksream 1 perhaps? Also, if i hide the flag columnt it will be hard to get 9 flag columns back again?
RE: Progress Report
Hi Jaques
Yes agreed it can get a bit cumbersome - you'll be glad to know though that they thought of this and you can rename custom fields such as Flag 1.
To do this add the column as we discussed then right click on it and choose Custom Fields
This is a handy shortcut as the dialogue box will list the flag fields and will already have highlighted the Flag field you selected in the table.
You will find a rename button that allows you to change the label for this column.
MS Project handles renamed fields particularly well. You will find your column listed twice now - under the old Flag label and the new label you have assigned so if you know either you will be able to find the column you need.
Let me know how this works out and if it helps.
Kind regards,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,
I tried this and it worked. I can't thank you enough.
Have a good day.

Hi Jacques
I'm very happy to hear that helped! If you had a moment and felt inclined to leave a review about us and what we do I'd very much appreciate it - it's entirely optional. I'm glad we could help.
