I am creating quite a complicated database. I have encountered an error whilst trying to link a table to another table via the Lookup Wizard. The error says "The operation failed. There are too many indexes on table 'tblAddendum'. Delete some of the indexes on the table and try the operation again." Can you explain why this error has occurred and exactly how I can remedy it? Many thanks.
RE: MS Access
Hello Michael,
Hope you enjoyed your Microsoft courses with BEST Training.
Thank you for your question regarding Access Indexing and linking.
In Microsoft Access, the maximum number of indexes you can have on any one table is 32. In order to proceed, you will need to delete one or more indexes on the named table.
To remove an index follow the following steps:
1. Open the table in Design view.
2. Click Indexes Button image (looks like a few lines and a yellow lightning bolt) on the toolbar.
3. In the Indexes window, select the row or rows containing the index you want to delete and press the DELETE key.
( NOTE : This removes only the index, not the field itself.)
I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved. If you require further assistance, please reply to this post.
Kind regards,
Richard
