Conditional Formatting
I have applied conditional formatting to a row of cell that are conducting a test balance that should always equal zero. The regualr formatting is grey text, I have created rues for the row to change the text colour to red if the value is greater or less than 0. It is occasionally changing cells that =£0.00 to red text, whilst other cells containing the same formula and formatting return £ - in the grey (which is correct). Why and how can I make it stop.
RE: Conditional Formatting
Hello Karen,
Thank you for your question regarding Conditional Formatting.
The first thing that comes to mind is that your test formula may have produced hidden results which will be exposed if you increase the decimal places. Remember a true zero cannot have any decimals.
If this is the case then simply add the ROUND function to your formula as follows:
=ROUND('your formula',0)
I have attached a file showing a simple example of how this works.
Should this not be the case I suggest you send me a sample file to my email: rl@stl-training.co.uk
I do hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.
If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?
Have a great day.
Regards,
Rodney

Excel tip:Hiding Formulae in the Formula BarIt is possible to protect the contents of a cell reference(s) from amendment by applying cell protection. The contents of the cell reference can also be stopped from displaying in the formula bar. |
