Linking workbooks

I am trying to link data from 2 workbooks. However whenever I make a change on the 'master' workbook it wipes all of the data from the workbook that I am linking it to - all of the data not just the data relating to the changed cell.
I have used the link button when copying the data rather than the value button as I need the data to update as it is changed on the master.
Both workbooks are saved on our work server in the same master folder.
Please can you advise?

Thank you

Fiona

RE: Linking workbooks

Hi Fiona

Thanks for getting in touch. That sounds like very strange behaviour. Is the linked workbook one that you created, or did it already exist? I'm just wondering if there's other things going on.

Can you give me an example of one of the linked cells' formula?

Kind regards

RE: Linking workbooks

Thanks for the response Gary - it seems to have resolved itself, I dont think I had given the workbooks a chance to update!

Excel tip:

Display pictures on Chart Data Point

Replacing a single chart data point bar with a picture.
Step 1: Left click on a bar. Then, wait, and do a second single click on the bar. This will select just one data point.

Step 2: Right click on the bar and select Format Data Point.

Step 3: On the fill effects tab, choose a picture. Browse for a picture for that bar. Indicate if you want it to be stretched or stacked. Repeat for each bar.
