Nested IF's

I would like to analyse data from a clinical research study:
series of binary numbers - 0/1 over 30sec time intervals, to count how many periods of serial 0s which represnts likely sleep phase e.g.4 or 6, 10. I am trying to characterise data from study patients - with different functions.
