RE: Entering telephone numbers begining with zero
Hello Sophie,
Thank you for your question regarding entering a leading zero into a cell in Excel.
There are a couple of ways around this:
1) Enter the number preceeded by a single apostrophe. e.g. '020 2354 5554 - Excel sees this as a text format.
OR
2) Format the cell first as text then enter the number.
Excel will put a smart-tag green triangle on the top left corner of the cell which will inform you that a number has been entered as text. You can click the smart-tag and choose 'Ignore Error' to get rid of the green triangle.
I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.
If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?
Have a great day.
