I want to keep the filtering options to a minimum, how do i lock a box to give a drop down menu with only a choice of answers.
RE: Filtering
Hi Jamie
Thanks for getting in touch. You can have one of these with Data Validation.
Select the cell(s) you want to have a drop-down list on, go to the Data tab and choose Data Validation.
In the Allow box choose List. Then in source either type in the entries, separated by commas, or select some cells that have got the entries you want in them. Press OK and the cell should now have a drop-down list.
If you want an in-depth look at this, consider attending our Excel Advanced course where this is covered in detail.
I hope this helps, let me know if you need any further help.
Kind regards
Gary Fenn

Excel tip:Quickly hide and unhide rows and columnsUse the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+9 to hide selected rows and Ctrl+0 to hide selected columns. The good thing about this shortcut is that you do not need to select entire rows or columns. For example, select B3:D3 then press Ctrl+0 to hide columns B to D. |
