Multiple excel files and use of VBA

I have multiple excel workbooks with data. I need to be able to get access to particular data within each of these files. I was thinking to use a "master" workbook with a UserForm as an interface that via macros can pull data that I want from the other closed spreadsheets and put it in a new worksheet.

Is Excel VBA the best option? Else would you recommend another alternative?

RE: Multiple excel files and use of VBA

Hi Stephen

Thanks for getting in touch. That is completely possible and is just one method of doing this. It will depend how much of the data you wish to manipulate and how variable the size and location of the data is.

If the data is in the same place and you are drawing data together as opposed to modifying it greatly, perhaps VLOOKUPs will be enough?

There isn't "one size fits all". But if you're going to work with other files, look up the OPEN, DIR and NAME commands in VBA help. Respectively, these open workbooks, gets the filepath as a string, and renames a workbook.

Kind regards

How to Spell Check an Excel 2010 Worksheet

Excel 2010 does not automatically spell check a document. So, here's how to manually spell check a worksheet.

Either select the ''Review'' tab in the Ribbon, go to the ''Proofing'' section and click ''Spelling.'' Or, simply press F7.
