RE: Excel V look-up
Hello Bryan,
Vlookup, stands for Vertical Lookup, and does what the name suggests. It can be used to Look up info from elsewhere, such as a data list of customer details held on another sheet or workbook.
e.g. on a sheet, you may want to deduct discount from a customer invoice total, but all customers receive various discounts. The discounts may be held in a datalist. By using Vlookup you can specify the customer name, John Smith and it will return the correct discount of say 10%. But if you decide to change the name to Dave Green then it will display the correct discount for that customer such as 25%. Lookups allow a variable to change.
I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.
If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?
Have a great day.
