Advanced Filters
Hi there,
I am having trouble using advanced filters. How do you get the filtered data to appear? I have:
-created an extra set of column headings
-given my database data a range name and clicked on a cell
-chosen advanced filter in the data menu
- selected the list range in the box
- chosen the column for my criteria (not sure if you include column heading in this)
When I press 'OK', nothing happens..
Could you please tell me where I am going wrong. Thank you! Kind regards,
Sarah.
RE: Advanced Filters
Hi Sarah,
Thank you for your question and welcome to the forum.
It sounds like most of the steps are correct. I have outlined below the steps needed.
1. When you name the data list range you must include the headings.
2. Create a Crtiteria table by copying the headings to another part of the spreadsheet.
3. Put the relevant criteria under each heading using the other rows below if needed as OR criteria.
4. Click into the main data list and open the Advanced filter box.
5. Type the name of the range in the List Range box.
6. Click into the Criteria Range box and highlight the headings and the row or rows of criteria.
The important thing about advanced filtering is you must include the headings in both the list and criteria range.
I hope this answers your questions.
Regards
Simon
