Vlookup
Please can you describe how to write a vlookup formula? I have seen one that uses ISERROR but can't see how that necessarily relates.
RE: Vlookup
Hello Daniel,
Hope you enjoyed your Microsoft Excel Intermediate course with Best STL.
Thank you for your question regarding using the Vlookup function and the use of ISERROR.
Excel 2007 came out with a new error function called IFERROR. It is much easier to use than ISERROR and I created a sheet with some data and a few VLOOKUP formulas.
The formulas on the left side of the sheet contain IFERROR functions with a VLOOKUP. The idea here is that if you are trying to find something that does not exist in the lookup column then Excel will return a #N/A error. I have used the IFERROR function to replace the error with some text "Invalid Employee ID".
The formulas on the right side of the sheet do not have the error function included and therefore will display an error message.
I hope this is clear for you.
We do go into more depth with VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP in our Advanced training course and would enjoy having you sit in on one of our scheduled courses in the near future.
I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.
If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?
Have a great day.
Regards,
Rodney
