Converting macro based .xls file to 2007 excel .xlsm file - file
When I convert a macro based Excel 2003 file .xls (size 13meg) to Excel 2007 file .xlsm (size initially reduces). When I run the macros in the .xlsm file the size increases to 37meg.
The macros work but why does the file size double or in some cases treble?

Hello Maria,
Re your question, unfortunately that is how VBA is compiled and despite many developers trying to avoid large user ranges or public variables or clearing variables the size still remains. Microsoft are not very forthcoming regarding how the low level coding works.
Sorry for not providing any suggestions but unfortunately it's something that cannot be changed.
I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.
If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?
Have a great day.

Excel tip:Counting BlanksSome times you want to check if there are cells missing data in your range. You can use the COUNTBLANK FUNCTION to acheive this. It is =COUNTBLANK(Range). Note Cells with formulas that return "" (empty text) are also counted. Cells with zero values are not counted. |
