How do you control your macro with a "button" (i.e. not through F8)? I had to leave the course at this point briefly. Many thanks
RE: Macros
Hi Steven
Thanks for your question. You can add a macro button to a toolbar in Excel by going to View > Toolbars > Customise and clicking on the Commands tab in the dialogue box that appears.
Scroll down the list of categories until you find the Macros entry and select it. On the right of the dialogue box you will see a smiley face button.
Left click on the button and drag the icon to one of your toolbars.
(leave the dialogue box open)
Once in position you can right click on the button and change the picture by choosing Change Button Image
Right click and choose Assign Macro to select one of the macros that should run when the button is clicked.
You can now close down the dialog box.
Alternatively you can add a button to a sheet in your workbook.
To do this go to View > Toolbars and choose the forms toolbar.
On the toolbar give the button icon a click then move your mouse over your sheet at the approximate location you would like to create your button.
Your mouse pointer has changed into a cross-hair. Left click and drag to draw your button. When you let go of the left mouse button Excel will ask what macro should run when the button in the sheet is clicked.
I hope this helps - do let me know if you have any further questions.
Kind regards,
Andrew
