Exclusive Rights of Database

I am trying to make a copy of a database to add some more fields to various forms to adapt it for another department since most of the tables will still be required. The only problem is i keep getting an error message saying 'i do not have exclusive rights and any changed will not be saved'. I have gone to tools -> options -> Advanced tab and changed the default open mode from shared to exclusive but still coming up with this same error message. Any tips or suggestions?

Many thanks,

Ekpo

RE: Exclusive Rights of Database

Hi Ekpo,

Thank you for your question.

The only thing I can suggest is to try and open the database from within the blank access window, locate and click once on the database to select it and then click on the drop down arrow next to the Open button and choose Open in Exclusive mode.

I will do some research and see if I can find anything.

I hope this helps.

Regards

Simon

Access tip:

Run with the total

Often when creating reports with lists of transactions it can be useful to have a column which totals the transactions as the report progresses.

Using the Sum function gives the total for the whole group, not a running total.

Access provides an easy method of achieving a running total.

Click on the text box containing the data you wish to contain the running total.
Select the Data tab
Click in the Running sum option
Click the down arrow to view three options
