we have to select random files for audit from existing databases, would a macro be able to be used for this purpose of random sampling

Hi Lesley, thanks for your query. That is possible, but it depends how random you want it! I would put hyperlinked filepaths in a series of cells in Excel and then use the walkthrough below to pick one at random.

To open it, or pick it from a folder you'll need to pick up some VBA!

Repeat action

The F4 key will usually repeat your last action. e.g. delete a row, then select another row and press F4 to delete again.
