Project Management - Framework & Processes course

% Complete changes to 100% when I type in 75%

I have a few sub tasks that when I try to update the % Complete field to 50% or more it automatically changes to 100%.

It will let me change to 25% but when I update to 50% or 75% it automatically changes to 100%

I have tried updating in the Update Task box but the same thing happens. I have also been in the Update Project box and ensured it is set for updates between 0% and 100%

The majority of tasks update correctly, so I can't explain why a few of them won't.

Please can you help.

Hi Nicola,

Thank you for your question.

Is it possible to send me the Project file?

If so can you send it to sk@stl-training.co.uk

Regards

Simon

Hi Nicola,

Thank you for the Project.

I believe your problem is that fact you are using Start to Finish relationships rather than Finish to Start relationships.

So perhas a fix you could try is to take a copy of the project and change the relationships from SF to FS.

Are the tasks in the logical order they should happen?

Regards

Simon

MS Project tip:

Formatting Bar Text

To display notes or resource initials on the Gantt chart bars, choose Format, Bar Styles and the Text tab. Select the position you want to show the text i.e. Top or Inside etc, then choose the field name you are looking for from the drop down arrow. Type the first letter of the name to get quickly to the top of the letter range. Click OK.
