IF/conditional formatting

I would like to know the formula to put in a cell where I want it to turn red if the date becomes overdue

RE: IF/conditional formatting

Hi Julie,

Thank you for the question and welcome to the forum.

In my example I have selected a range of dates and all the dates that are less than 01/01/2011 I want to format in red.

Highlight the range of dates and go to Format and Conditional Formatting.

Leave Cell Value is and in the condition box to the right I would choose less than(or less than or equal to) and then in the final box enter the date required. Then apply the formatting required.

So the condition would look like this:

Cell Value is - Less Than - 01/01/2011

I hope this helps.

Regards

Simon

Excel tip:

Make a quick copy of a worksheet

Hold down the Ctrl key, then click and drag on a sheet tab to make a copy of that sheet. Though this process usefully copies the formats of the original sheet, note that any Range Names you have on the original sheet will be duplicated too.

To make a copy of a worksheet's contents and formats without duplicating range names: (1) Ensure that you have a blank worksheet to paste to. (2) On the sheet to copy, click on the sheet selection square to the left of Column A's heading to select the whole sheet. (2) Copy the whole sheet. (3) Paste to the blank worksheet.
