Charts imported from Excel
I am trying to import charts from Excel. According to your menu I can do it by Inserting Object, then create from file. However by doing so I have no control over which chart(s) in the workbook I am importing. When I saved 3 charts on the same tab and set print area to cover all 3 charts, only 1 corner of 1 chart appears in my PPT slide. Also by using this function does that mean I can't link the data to the slide?
Alternatively, when I click chart as an object in the slide, it allows me to import file by using the tool button. However I have no idea how to define the range despite several attempts. Can you please advise?
Further questions can I define the format of the charts on PPT in similar manner as Excel, or I have to change font, colour etc based on PPT editing?
RE: Charts imported from Excel
Hi Belinda
Thank you for your question regarding charts.
Inserting a chart as an object is definitely a valid method to link excel charts to a powerpoint slide, however if you have more than one chart present the entire contents of Excel will be inserted.
An alternative method is to copy the chart in Excel, switch to PowerPoint, Open the 'Edit' menu, selecting 'Paste Special' and putting a check next to 'Link'. Any changes made to Excel will be reflected in PowerPoint.
The formatting options available are identical in both PowerPoint and Excel, however with the charts being linked you will only be able to format the charts in Excel with the format changes being reflected in PowerPoint.
I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.
