Resorces - effort driven
Hi there,
I am having problems with a new GANTT chart that I have done.
On previous GANTTs when I have entered two or more resources (with the effort driven box ticked in the task info bar) i recieve options as to whether I want to reduce the duration etc.
However this is not happening as I add more than one resource to a task. Is there any way I can make this happen? Are there any options that I need to explore?
Many Thanks
RE: Resorces - effort driven
Hi Jen
The message you are referring to sounds like the smart tag that appears when an effort driven task that has at least one resource has further resources added or the existing assignment modified.
If there are no resources on a task and you assign 5 resources at the same time Project will just accept the assignment, regardless of whether effort driven is ticked or not. Project just accepts that it will take 5 resources the duration specified to complete the task. Once they are assigned and you remove one of them Project will prompt you as it needs to know if the remaining people will have to work longer to carry out the work of the missing 5th person or if the total work has been reduced so that four people can complete the task in the time already allotted.
Does this describe the situation you are encountering?
Kind regards,
Andrew

MS Project tip:Formatting Bar TextTo display notes or resource initials on the Gantt chart bars, choose Format, Bar Styles and the Text tab. Select the position you want to show the text i.e. Top or Inside etc, then choose the field name you are looking for from the drop down arrow. Type the first letter of the name to get quickly to the top of the letter range. Click OK. |
