Working days

Hi,

My company is asking me to calculate the number of WORKING DAYS between a receipt and a despatch. Is there a formula or shortcut to working out the number of working days between one date and another?

Thanks

RE: working days

Hi Paul,

Thank you for your question.

There is a function called NETWORKDAYS which allows you to work out the number of of working days between a start date and finish date and will also allow you to include any holidays taken. The Holiday argument is optional.

Here is an example:

=NETWORKDAYS(N2,O2,S2:S5)

N2 - Start Date
O2 - Finish Date
S2:S5 - Holiday dates range(in date format dd/mm/yyyy)

To access this function you need to enable the 'Analysis Toolpack' add-in.

1. Go to Tools and Add-Ins.
2. Check the box marked 'Analysis Toolpack' and click OK.
3. Then either type the function as outlined above or choose the function from the Insert Function dialogue box. It will be available under the Date and Time category.

I hope this answers your question.

Regards

Simon

Excel tip:

Line breaks in a cell

You can control the line breaks for multiple-line headings or labels in your Microsoft Excel worksheet, just like you do in Microsoft Word. Here's how to do it.

Click the cell where you want the label or heading to appear.
Type the first line of information.
Press ALT+ENTER.
