Dates limited to post 1900
I am intending on using Access to create a simple archive database and have records dating back to the 1890s. How will I enter this information onto a table when Access will only allow dates after 1900?
Thanks
RE: Dates limited to post 1900
Hi Victoria
Thank you for your question.
In principle Access should be happy sorting dates earlier than 1900 in a table that contains a date field. I tried a quick test and it seems to work but it may I haven't fully understood how your database will be set up.
To test I created a table and in design view I created a date field. Then in Datasheet view I was able to enter records with dates earlier than 1900 then sort records in date and reverse order.
Problems can arise if date information is imported from Excel 2003. Excel will convert dates earlier than 1900 into text values rather than date values. They appear correct but when imported to Access for example they may generate errors. Could this be the situation you are encountering?
Tell me more about what you are hoping to achieve with your database and the problems you are encountering and I will try and help further.
Kind regards,
Andrew
