Can you protect cell validation?
RE: data validation
Hi Beverley,
Thank you for your question.
Select the cells first and create the Data validation.
With those cells selected go to Format and then Cells. Navigate to the Protection tab and uncheck the Locked option.
Now protect the sheet with a password by going to Tools, Protection and then protect sheet. Type a password in and click OK and then confirm it.
The next time the file is opened they will be able to type into the cells you unlocked but they won't be able to amend the data validation settings.
If you want to amend the Data Validation settings, you would need to unprotect the sheet and type your password in to gain full control of all the options.
I hope this answers your question.
Regards
Simon

Excel tip:Trace Dependents / Precedents without the blue arrowsRather than using the toolbar you can press CTRL+] which is the equivelent of trace dependants and CTRL+[ for precendants. Both of these ways though will not show the blue arrows but jump to the cell containing the formula. |
