Cost of travel time

How do I formulate a view for the cost of travel in miles and show it in my plan as time? eg 1 mile = x time and time = x cost.

RE: Cost of travel time

Hi Terry

Thank you for your question. You can get Project to calculate values for you. From the Tools menu choose Customize > Fields and choose set the type to number. You can rename this as Mileage (eg miles to project). Do the same thing with another field of type Cost renamed as Rate.

Lastly make a cost field called Expense and click on the Formula button. In the formula box build a formula that will multiply mileage by cost. The formula would look like [Mileage]*[Rate]. The square brackets identify the field names.

Finally add in the columns to the table (Insert > Column) Put a value in Mileage, a rate value in the Rate column and Project will calculate the Expense.

I hope this is a useful start to using fields within Project to calcluate values. Do let us know if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,
Andrew
