Finding and Referencing between sheets

Hi, I need to figure out how to find a value in a sheet and reference values from the row that value is in onto another sheet.
I'm trying to make an automated invoice sheet where all the info about the sale is put into the first sheet as a log and on the second sheet you need to fill out the item number feild and the rest of it will be automatically filled in by referencing info from the first sheet.

Basically each feild that needs to be automatically filled in on sheet 2 searches the A coloum from sheet 1 for the Item # (that has to be manually put into sheet 2) and references information from that row.

I know what i mean, but just incase ive confused anyone with my bad explaination of what im after, i made a quick excel book that will make it easier to understand (hopefully)

Thanks,
Chris

RE: Finding and Referencing between sheets

Hello Chris

Thank you for your question.

This requires using a VLOOKUP function. I've attached your example with the formulas in it, so you enter your item number on the invoice sheet and it pulls through the corresponding details from the Info sheet.

Kind regards
Amanda

Excel tip:

Reconciling a list to correspond with another

May have a list that needs to make but on another sheet one list seems to be out, eg. product list one sheet contains all product and inventory data, while the other contains pricing data. Both need to match with all products but there is more products in one list than the other. To find the disparaging product compare data in the two columns that need to match Make sure that order the same way.
Create another column in the sheet that has the most items and type in the first cell

=Exact(text1,text2) text1 being the cell that you want compared with text2 cell reference. Drag to filldown and your first false will give you for first cells that does not match. Correct insert the row with data in other sheet and continue the process until all the data returns true. Delete the column inserted.
