How do you hide a formula within a cell?

RE: Formulas

Hello Marissa

Thank you for your question and welcome to the forum.

Formulas cannot be hidden without having protection applied to the spreadsheet, so if there are other cells in the spreadsheet that you want people to be able to change or edit, then those cells will need to be unlocked (using the same steps 1-4 below, but unchecking the 'Locked' box instead of ticking the 'Hidden' box) before protection is applied (steps 5-6).

1. Select the cells containing the formulas to be hidden.
2. Right-click on a selected cell, and choose the Format Cells option from the shortcut menu.
3. Select the Protection tab and tick the Hidden checkbox.
4. Click OK.
5. Go to the Review tab and click the Protect Sheet button, setting a password if desired.
6. Click OK.

Kind regards
Amanda

Excel tip:

Calculate difference between two times

For presenting the result in the standard time format (hours : minutes : seconds . Use the subtraction operator (-) to find the difference between times, and the TEXT function to format the returned value to text in a specific number format.

Hours never exceed 24, minutes never exceed 60, and seconds never exceed 60.

=TEXT(B2-A2,"h")
Hours between two times (4)

=TEXT(B2-A2,"h:mm")
Hours and minutes between two times (4:55)

=TEXT(B2-A2,"h:mm:ss")
Hours and seconds between two times (4:55:00)

Where B2 and A2 must hold the end time and start time respectively formatted as a time format
