Copy and pasting using filters

Hi,

I have just upgraded to excel 2007 and I'm finding that when I filter down a table I cannot copy and past cells exclusively to the information shown, insteady the information pastes to the entire column whether hidden or not. Is there a setting that needs changing? Please advise.

Many thanks,

Tatiana.

RE: copy and pasting using filters

Hello Tatiana

Thank you for your question.

I think what would work is if you asked Excel to select only the visible cells in the range you select, then copy and paste as normal.

To do this:
Select the cell range you wish to copy. Press F5, then click Special, select Visible cells only, then click OK. Then copy and paste as normal.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards
Amanda

Excel tip:

Transpose text

You can transpose any range of cells, turning the columns into rows and the rows into columns. Just follow these steps:

Select the range.

Click the Copy button on the Standard toolbar to copy it to the Clipboard.

Select a cell outside of the range you copied.

Select Paste Special from the Edit menu.

In the Paste Special dialog box, click Transpose, then OK.
