Vlookup

I have work on one sheet with several tabs, the problem being when i did a vlookup from one tab to another tab it failed to find a part number that was on both tabs. Even when I formated the tabs to the same on both tabs it still didn't find it. And even when I re-typed the numbers in in the same format, font colour, it still didn't find it. Any help will be graetly appreciated and if need be the file can be sent for perusal.

RE: vlookup

Hi Brian, thanks for the query. Sometimes when the vlookup function doesn't work , the number in the cell is being treated as text. Try applying consistent number formatting to all your cells or use the =value() command in a new column and copy the numbers back, and then performing the VLOOKUP.

Hope this helps,

Anthony

Excel tip:

Move to edge of data block

When data is held in a block, however large, use the Ctrl key with your cursors to move quickly to the far edge of the block. Works with all 4 direction keys.
