What is the correct procedure for linking workbooks?
RE: linking separate workbooks
Hello Tracy
Thank you for your question and welcome to the forum.
There are a couple of different ways of creating links; it's not so much that one is more correct than the other, it is down to your preference as to which way you'd like to go about setting them up.
Following either way, you'll need to have both files open (the file you're creating the link in (destination file) and file that the link gets information from (source file)).
Method 1.
1. Click in the cell where the link is to go in the destination file.
2. Type in =
3. Select the cell in the source file that you wish to link to.
4. Press Enter.
Method 2.
1. Copy the cell that you wish to link to in the source file.
2. Select the cell that you wish to create the link in, in the destination file.
3. Right-click and select Paste Special.
4. Click Paste Link (bottom left corner).
Kind regards
Amanda
