RE: Data function, Macro, pivotal tables

Hi Sihyun,

Thank you for your question.

Here is a brief overview of the topics mentioned:

1. The Data function - Create a critieria table by copying the headings from your data list, define the range of cells that makes up your data list and define the field you want summarised or averaged.

2. Pivot Tables - Open your data list and choose Insert Pivot Table. Select all the data list including the headings and choose where you want to place the table. Then choose your Page, Row, Column and data fields.

3. Macros - Navigate to the Developer tab and choose Record Macro. Name the macro and choose the location to save it in.

I hope this answers your question.

Regards

Simon

Excel tip:

Checking formulas with multiple operators

When dealing with formulas containing more than one operator (+, -, /, *), Excel follow standard BEDMAS order of operation rules. These rules specify the order that calculations will be performed in, regardless of how the formula reads left to right:

B = brackets
E = exponents
D = division
M = multiplication
A = addition
S = subtraction

It should be noted that multiplication and division are considered equal; as are addition and subtraction.

If you would like to check the order in which Excel is performing calculations in a formula, simply click on the cell containing the formula. Then go to Tools - Formula Auditing and select Evaluate Formula.

In the Evaluate Formula dialogue box that appears on your screen, click the Evaluate button to see how Excel calculates the formula result.
