Borders
how do you create borders using the mouse to draw them
RE: borders
There is a 'Draw border' icon on the 'Borders' toolbar. When selected your cursor changes to a pencil. If you keep the right key of the mouse depressed a border will be drawn around the outside edge of the dragged area. It's like selecting a range of cells by dragging the mouse, except rather than selecting them, a border is drawn around the edge.
The 'Draw border' tool toggles with 'Draw border grid'. When the grid is selected all of the cells within the dragged area are bordered to create a table effect.
If requires, change the 'Line style' and 'Line color' from the Borders toolbar before you drag the cells, otherwise you get a basic black line.

Excel tip:Quickly insert a functionIn Excel 97 and 2000 it was known as the Paste Function dialog box, these days it's known as the Insert Function dialog box. Regardless, one has to choose Insert|Function. or the fx button to open it up. There is, however, a non-mousey way to get hold of the Insert Function dialog box: press Shift+F3 in a blank cell to open the Insert Function dialog. |
