I need A good formula for comparing two lists of data

RE: Lists

Hello Richard
Thank you for your question

When you say you want to compare the two lists, how exactly do you want to compare them as this can greatly affect the formula you will use. For example, if you want to check if values on one list exist on the other list already so you can merge them then you would use a vlookup formula. If you are comparing them in another way then you might use a different formula. Could you be more specific and perhaps provide a sample of what you would like to do?

If this resolves your question, please mark it as resolved. If not, please reply with more information.

Kind regards

RE: Lists

Hi,

we need to compare two lists of file references in the following format.

List Updated List
01/002/0003 01/02/0003

Regards,

Richard.

RE: Lists

Hello Richard

You wont be able to compare two lists like this based on completely different IDs. What i suggest is that the original ID is placed on the new list next to the updated ID. You will then be able to use vlookup to see if something from one list is on the other list. A bit of ground work required here, but there are a couple of formulas that might help make it a bit easier. I have attached a sample spreadsheet to demonstrate how to do this.

Change the Default Width of All Columns in Excel 2010

If you want to change the width of the columns in your Excel 2010 spreadsheet, making them either larger or smaller, here's how:

In the Cells group on the Home tab, click Format.

Hover over the section called Cell Size and a drop down list will appear, select Default Width from this list.

In the Standard Width dialog box, enter the size you want to set as the default width and click OK.
