Microsoft Project

where is the best place to look to see an overall view of resources from all the project plans I have saved within MS project. This is to view all the resources together and compare against who i have allocated or overallocated for each project without keep opening/looking at each project individually.

RE: Microsoft Project

Hi Pauline

One way to see your assignments across several projects is to create a resource pool (a file that contains all the resources in one resource sheet) and then connect your plans to the resource pool.

Once connected you can open the resource pool by choosing option three and create a combined plan that brings alls your plans together into one consolidated plan.

Before you embark on this you would be best to work with a copy of your live data - to make sure all works correctly before you follow the process with your live data.

I hope this helps - do let us know if you have any further questions in particular around setting up a resource pool.

Kind regards,
Andrew

MS Project tip:

Formatting Bar Text

To display notes or resource initials on the Gantt chart bars, choose Format, Bar Styles and the Text tab. Select the position you want to show the text i.e. Top or Inside etc, then choose the field name you are looking for from the drop down arrow. Type the first letter of the name to get quickly to the top of the letter range. Click OK.
