Formula's

When you are inputing data into the spreadsheet and you want to get the totals, what is the logical reason for using the and button?

RE: Formula's

Dear Lucy

Thank you for attending the Excel 2007 Adv course. I hope you enjoyed the course and benefited from it.

I am not sure if I understand your question correctly.

Do you want to know the reason why we use AND function or is there a Button on the Ribbon you are reffering to?

If you want to know why you need to use the AND function then the reason is simple.

Normally in simple IF statements you can use one cell that you can put the logical condition on. But with AND you can use various conditions for various cells and in order to get a TRUE result it has to meet all the conditions.

OR function is very similar but the only difference is that in order to get the TRUE statment it can meet any on the conditions that you input.

To make your AND and OR functions more powerful and specific to your need you should try to combine them with IF function just like we did in the training course.

I hope this helps in answering your query.

Please mark the post as resolved if it has.

Many thanks

Kindest Regards
