Importing Outlook to Project
Can I import data from Outlook to Project?
I have to create a weekly 'movements sheet' from several calendars which is quite time consuming, at present I re-type all the information into a Word document
If I can't import the information do you have any suggestions how I can do this task more efficiently?
Many thanks,
Heather
RE: Importing Outlook to Project
Hi Heather
Thanks for your question. To try and guide you in the right direction I'd like to check what kind of information you are keeping track of in Outlook and in Project. Is the report about changes to planned tasks or the whereabouts of members of the team?
In theory it is possible to export information from Outlook by choosing File > Import / Export. Project will import files exported from other applications (by going to File > Open and choosing your file type) e.g. csv format.
However this process is not straightforward as you need to make sure data coming from Outlook is mapped correctly to data in Project. On top of that the kind of data you are looking to export / import is also likely to add complications (are you tracking tasks, people's holidays etc.?)
If you can let me know a bit more about what you are looking to achieve I can try to give you some pointers.
Kind regards,
Andrew
