Project 2007 - Changing Resource Pools

Hello

I've put together a Revised Resource Pool10 and would like to reassign to my existing Projects.

The Resource sharing Links show the connection to previous Resource Pool2, even after I try to disconnect the Link.

In desperation I've completely deleted my previous Resource Pool2 - trying to connect to my new Resource Pool10.
Unfortunitely the Share Resources options still list the deleted files, with no Reference or Option to link to my new Resource Pool10.
Ultimately, I wish to print out reports from my Master File, giving the Total Resource Hrs covering all Projects.

In a quandery - What do I do from here ????

Look forward to hearing from you soon
Regards

David

RE: Project 2007 - Changing Resource Pools

Hi David

Can I just confirm that you have carried out the following steps

1. You have opened your new resource pool as well as the file that you wish to link to it
In the file that is to use the new resource pool you have gone to TOOLS-RESOURCESHARING_SHARERESOURCES.
In the use resources from dialog you hjave replace the old resource pool with the new resource pool.

If you have carried out these steps, then please let me know so we can explore other options

Regards

Stephen

RE: Project 2007 - Changing Resource Pools

I think I've manage to find a solution to the above Dilema.

Open-Up new Resource Pool 10 - then
Open Individual Project file, a message window appears
'Can't find original Resource Pool Link - do you want to disconnect the link?? Click-Yes

The Project file should then open, go to Tools in top toolbar.
Share Resources - the new Resource Pool 10 Link should now appear in the drop-down options box - Click on new Link - OK

So far the above has allowed me to progress
- Thank Goodness

Regards David

Hello David

Thank you for your post.

We have had an MS Project trainer review your query, and this scenario would take quite a bit of dedicated time to resolve and therefore it is beyond our capacity to answer your question via the forum.

We would be able to offer assistance in a consultative capacity, for which there would be an associated cost.

If you would be interested in taking this forward and receiving a quote, please contact our enquiries team on phone number or email info@stl-training.co.uk

MS Project tip:

Inserting Task Durations Quickly

When entering durations for your tasks simply use the single letters - m for min, h for hr, d for day, w for week, but mon for month. If default is set for days, you need only type the number, for example 3 for 3days, or 0.5 for half a day.
