How to highlight by dates documents overdue

RE: Spreadsheets

Hi Irene

Thank you for your question, and welcome to the forum.

The feature in Excel that you can use to get Excel to highlight cells for you if they meet certain criteria is called conditional formatting.

To highlight overdue dates using conditional formatting, do the following:

1. Select the cells containing all the dates.

2. Click the Conditional Formatting button on the Home ribbon, then select Highlight Cell Rules and then Less Than.

3. In the box under Format Cells that are less than, type =today()

4. In the box to the right of 'with' select Red Text from the dropdown options (or go to Custom Format to choose your own formatting).

I hope this helps.
Amanda

Excel tip:

Wrapping Text in a Cell in an Excel 2010 Workbook

When you have a lot of text you want to put in a particular cell but you can't decrease the font size to fit because the text will then become ineligible, then manually wrap the text in a cell by simply pressing ALT+ENTER.
