Remote Server
Can the server be just within the building or can it be elsewhere in the area
RE: Remote Server
Hello Maxine
Hope you enjoyed your DreamWeaver training with BEST STL.
Thank you for your question regarding Remote servers
When you set up a remote server, it can be in 3 different areas. A Remote location is any one that is not the same as the LOCAL copy of the website files.
Firstly, you can have a remote server on the same machine you are working on. If you were developing the website on a webserver machine, then you could use this option.
Secondly, the webserver or remote server could be on the same local network as your machine. In this case, you could just copy the files to the location as requiresd.
Lastly, and most commonly, the webserver will belocated somewhere far away, accessible only via the internet. In this case you would use FTP to login the machine and send your files.
Regards
Richard
