was a nested if function

RE: excel function

Hi Daniela,

Thank your for your post, The IF function is used to determine the state of a condition, i.e.: if it is TRUE or FALSE, dependant on the answer then further actions can be undertaken; so if we consider the formula =IF(A1>=100,A1*2,0) which translated would be; Is A1 greater than or equal to 100, if it is (TRUE) then multiply the value of A1 by 2, if it is not, (FALSE) then do nothing (0). Taking this further, you can nest up to 7 IF statements, and also use other formula in the IF statement, substituted for either of the statements (TRUE or FALSE). For example: =IF(A1>100,A1*2,IF(A1>75,A1*3,IF(A1>50,A1*4,0)))

I hope that helps, regards Pete
