How do I hide the tables etc when a database is opened

Edited on Mon 28 Jul 2008, 13:56

RE: Access 2007

Hi Angela

Hide objects and groups

Hiding an object or group in Access is usually a better and easier option when you want to restrict access to it. Hiding objects does not change the database.

To hide an object in the Navigation Pane, right-click the object, and then click Hide in this Group.

To hide an entire group in the Navigation Pane,, right-click the group header (eg Tables), and then click Hide .

Unhide objects and groups

You can display hidden objects or groups without providing access to them. To do this:

Right-click the menu bar at the top of the Navigation Pane , and then click Navigation Options .

In the Navigation Options dialog box, select the Show Hidden Objects check box, and then click OK .

The hiddden objects and groups appear dimmed in the Navigation Pane as they are not enabled.

To enable an object, right-click the object, and then click Unhide in this Group.

To unhide a group, right-click the group, and then click Unhide.

Hope this helps

Carlos

RE: Access 2007

Hi - thanks for this. Do you know if there is a way to hide the Navigation Pane itself, rather than just objects or groups in it?

Thanks

Angela

Access tip:

Prefixed Autonumbering

When using Date Type = Autonumber as a primary key, clients may require autonumbering to be prefixed with a letter.

For example, P001, where P is the prefixed letter

Instructions
Step 1. Create Field Name
Step 2. Set Data Type to Autonumber
Step 3. Within Field Property General tabsheet,
enter Format property as [backslash]P000
