Query
How do I set up a criteria say anything containing IT but not any IT within a word say benefIT?
Thanks.
RE: Query
Hi Sammie,
I have just tried something which seems to work, though it brings up text with the word 'it' in not just the capital version as in Information Technology. If you wanted the latter only, there is probably a way of doing that too.
I used the following: Like "* IT *"
So I used a space either side and also wildcards on the outside of these so that IT can be anywhere in the text field to work.
If you wanted 'IT' and not 'it' let us know and I'm sure someone will have or will find the answer
Regards, Mark
RE: Query - Using wildcards
Dear Sammie
Dear Ben
Thank you for attending Access courses. I hope you enjoyed the courses and are finding the topics covered during the training useful.
What Mark has suggested wil provide you the result but if you have IT as the First Word or the last word then it can be a bit of a problem.
I am not sure it this is the definite answer but you can try this and I am confident that it will work
In the Job Title field in the Design View of the Query type the following:
* IT (Please note that there is a space between * and IT)
IT *
* IT * (Please note that there is space before and after IT)
This should be entered in the same line on the Job Title field.
Please try it and tell me if that helps you or not.
I hope this has helped in answering your query. If this has answered your question then may I please request you to mark this post as resolved!!
Many thanks
Kindest Regards
