I have a excel report and every week I need to to change some of the information and save it as the current date, the problem i am having is when ever I save it and close then reopen to add something else the formulas is not working even though they are there and correct....can you help?
RE: Excel
Good afternoon Lisa,
Can you tell me what sort of message you see when you say the formula is not working? You also say they are not working so what sort of formula are you trying to use?
Tracy
RE: Excel
There is no messsage coming up and the formula is a simple sum formula, I dont understand why it works when I first save it but when I close the excel book and reopen at a later time is does to add the numbers.
RE: Excel
One solution could be your computer is set to "manual" calculation which means it will not update until you press F9 on the function keypad.
To switch it to automatic you need to go to the Tools menu down to Options and to the tab that says Calculation. Once there see if it is on Manual, if it is that is your problem!! so change it to the button that says Automatic.
Try it and let me know

RE: Excel
Thank you for your patience, but that is not the problem it is set to automatic...... It is puzzling me..... Any other ideas?
RE: Excel
OK, more ideas for you...
Have you checked it is not read-only, this will be seen on the title bar, if this is the case you cannot overwrite it, or whether it is protected. (Tools, Protection, Sheet or workbook)
When you re-open the file what can you see in the cell, it may be the settings are not allowing you to save the formula? try it and let me know
Is it a shared workspace? do you have sole access to the file or can a number of people access it (at once)?
Try these options and let me know, if these don't work I can look into other ways so do not worry about getting back to me
Tracy
RE: Excel
Sorry Tracey none of that is the problem :-)
RE: Excel
Can you send the spreadsheet to me so that I can see what you mean?
Email address info@stl-training.co.uk, mark it for the attention of me, Tracy
Thanks
Tracy
