Thank you for attending Excel 2007 Intermediate course. I hope you enjoyed the course and are finding the topics covered during the training useful.

The short and sweet answer to your question is that it is possible to use different data in the different columns which are located in different worksheets.

But in some cases when you have data for different Qtrs, Months, Years, Regions, etc.. in different worksheets then 3 D formula is most efficient. Please note that the alternative to 3 D formula is Consolidate feature. It is most efficient in situations when the row and column headings are similar across the worksheets. However, you can still apply this feature if the data you want to calculate is not the similar in all the worksheets.

Switch on smart tags – Excel 2007

In order to use smart tags, make sure they are turned on, to do this:
1. Click on ‘Microsoft Office‘ button and then click on ‘Excel Options‘.
2. Click on ‘Proofing‘ category and then click on ‘Auto Correct Options‘.
3. In the ‘Auto Correct‘ dialogue box appears, click the ‘Smart Tags‘ Tab.
4. Tick the boxes, next to the Smart Tags you wish to use in Excel
