Headers in excel
can we lock a heading in excel, for example if we want our company name
Allies and Morrison to remain and not be deleted
and other headings such as project no and name can be changed
RE: Headers in excel
Hi Clare,
Thank you for your post; in answer Yes you can lock your heading or any other cells to ensure they are not changed.
Follow these steps; its a bit of reverse logic;
Select the cells that you wish to be changed, ie data entered or edited.
Go to the Menu option Format>Cells, on the dialog box select Protection.
Deselect the Lock Cells tick box
Go to Tools>Protection and choose the option Protect Worksheet, you can set a password at this point if you wish.
When you return to your worksheet you will be able to make changes to the cells which you selected in the first step. Those which were not selected will be locked and a warning dialog box will pop up if any changes are attempted.
I hope that has helped, regards Pete

Excel tip:Wrapping Text in a Cell in an Excel 2010 WorkbookWhen you have a lot of text you want to put in a particular cell but you can't decrease the font size to fit because the text will then become ineligible, then manually wrap the text in a cell by simply pressing ALT+ENTER. |
