Protecting sheet

how do you protect only some cells!!

RE: protecting sheet

Hi Marie

Thank you for your question.

The first thing you need to do is unlock the cells you want to allow people to change/edit in your spreadsheet.

To do this:
Select the cells, then go to Format - Cells - Protection and uncheck the Locked tickbox. Click OK.

Then apply protection to the sheet:
Tools - Protection - Protect Sheet (and enter a password if you wish). Click OK.

You should be able to change/edit data in the cells that you unlocked, even once protection has been applied.

I hope this helps.
Amanda

Excel tip:

Generate randon numbers

Some types of analysis require you to use randomly generated numbers. You can also use randomly generated numbers to quickly populate an Excel spreadsheet. There's an easy function you can use to do this automatically. Here are a few of the ways you can use it:

Type =RAND() in a cell to generate a number between 0 and 1.
Type =RAND()*100 to generate a number between 1 and 100.
