Protecting worksheets

Is it possible to protect a worksheet so that it can only be deleted and copied by first entering a password?

RE: Protecting worksheets

Hi Kimberly

Thank you for your question

There is no mechanism in Excel whereby you can password protect a file from copying or deleting

However, depending on the version of windows that you are using together with the nature of your network it might be possible to apply such protetction via the user group route.

This is however highly technical and there are too many variables for us to describe a precise procedure here. I suggest that you raise the issue with the person who manages your network, as they will have the exact knowledge of your system and will be able to advise on what is possible.

Regards

Stephen

Did you know you could give the tabs in your worksheet different colours?

This is particularly useful when organizing all your worksheets relating to a particular period or year, for example.

Right click a tab
