Can I publish a Gantt chart from Project in order to upload the chart onto a website

RE: Project

Hi Philip,

There isn't a simple way to get the image of the Gantt chart published as an HTML file. If you do go through the File, Save As Web Page process, the wizard that you progress through will ask you which sets of data you would like to be incorporated in the HTML image - but it becomes a table of data - not a graphical image of your Gantt chart.

The easiests way to achieve an upload of the Gantt chart image is to use the 'Copy Picture' icon and create a separate .gif file of your Gantt chart. Insert this .gif into a Word Document and then choose File, Save as Web Page - this then creates an HTML file with your image embedded on it - this page is then transferrable, using an ftp program onto any web site.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards

Carmen

MS Project tip:

Keep constraining dates to a minimum

As far as possible avoid fixing the dates of your tasks. For example try to steer of clear dragging task bars in the Gantt chart to move them on the timeline or entering dates directly into the Start / Finish fields.

Date constraints such as these limit Microsoft Project's ability to automatically adjust your project whenever you add, remove or modify the duration of your tasks. Instead use the logic in your task dependencies that link your tasks to enable Project to calculate the start and finish dates for you.
